LET’S TALK LIFESTYLE VACCINES:
HAVING THE CONVERSATION WITH PET OWNERS
This presentation will outline the role technicians play in informing
pet owners about non-core/lifestyle-dependent vaccines in dogs (specifically CIRDC, leptospirosis, and Lyme disease). This session will cover epidemiology, prevalence, and changes in distribution over time; risk factors, pathogenesis, and clinical signs; diagnostics; and prevention and vaccine protocols. It will also cover how to engage pet owners in conversations relating to vaccination.
Review disease agents for canine infectious respiratory disease complex (CIRDC), leptospirosis, and Lyme disease.
Understand the importance of investigating patient history.
Develop effective tools for client communication, including tips for recommending lifestyle vaccines.
